Holly Jolly Golly

Yes, Merry Christmas indeed... or Hanukkah or Kwanza or National Bouillabaisse Day (google taught me that last one)- Whatever your thing is :)
FYI, this is my thesis character, Leah.
Look for her in my senior film, millions of years from now when I actually finish and release the darned thing.  (Probably sometime later this summer).
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hello Again

OK I know I haven't been very good to the blog lately- let's just say I've been busy.  I got back to school a week late and now I'm madly hacking away at my thesis film.  In the meantime, here's a bunch of doodles I did over the summer.

Kersplickety

With the turning of May, I unload the usual brigade of summer drawings:  fat mammalians, strange faces, and all that other stuff I do.  The last one’s for Lily- Thanks for the amazing book :)

Junior LipSync Assignments

Hey everyone.  This is what I worked on when I WASN"T doing prepro.  I sort of ran out of time for these but... eh.  Here they are for now.  Behold: Lipsync and Take Two (with special guest rig, Kendra Phillips)

Nut-Cracked

This was my second pitch for thesis.  Have you ever noticed how sinister and terrifying nutcrackers are?  I mean look at them!  It's a tiny wooden man with painted baby teeth used for BREAKING things.  I think its time for everyone to be secretly afraid of them... as I am.

and now its Time for some sweet, sweet assets...

 Character Designs

I've been drawing versions of this punkass, beaver-toothed kid since early high school.  There's just something about his character I find wonderfully aggravating- but he's just a kid so you can't beat him up... unless you're a nutcracker.

So Emotional

This is my emotions exercise (the thing we do before the actual dialogue test) using the rig I built of myself.  For class we had to show the whole body and then the head by itself in the other half of the frame.  I animated to the camera, so any jaw drag or hair bounce translates as a distracting rupture to the head-only render.  Plus you can see where I may have... strategically cheated.  Some things aren't meant to be seen from certain angles haha.  When I make my actual reel, I'll probably just include the full body render- In the meantime you can cover half the screen with your palm, mousepad, or pet cat.  Thanks :)

Push/Pull Part 2

My naturally exaggerated second push/pull exercise- ~Its wacky~
